Prince of Peace Christ Catholic Church

We are simply Catholics who consider ourselves a real and living part of the Catholic Church. We are currently recognized as legitimate and possessing valid holy orders, but are not currently in actual Communion with the Holy See of Rome. We are considered a part of the American so-called "Old Catholic" movement by most. Though in actuality what we teach and believe is simply traditional Catholic teaching, both of doctrine and morality. We do not bow to trends in practice or theology, either within our without the Church, and we tend to practice a solemn ritual, the main being the Christ Catholic Mass. We have been organized in this country since 1920; and have been autocephalous (self-governing) since 1937. We are not affiliated with the Old Catholic sees of the Netherlands, Germany, or Switzerland. In practice, we would be most closely recognized to have the greatest similarity to the Old Roman Catholic Church of Great Britain; the Old Roman Catholic Church of Europe; and other similar groups both within and without the Roman Communion. We are not part of the Pius V group; and we express our liturgies in the vernacular of the people attending Mass (in this case; in the English language). We take the practice of Conversion unto the Living Risen Christ very seriously. We express our love for HIm in our lives, our faith, our evangelism, and in our Eucharistic devotion to the Sacred Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ; whose abiding Eucharistic presscence is worthy of all worship and adoration. We continue all devotional and pious practices of the Holy Church; including the Holy Rosary and all Marian devotions.

Sermon for Sunday August 18th 2013 "SPIRITUAL LEPROSY"

Sunday August 18th 2013
The Collect.
ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, give unto us the increase of faith, hope, and charity; and, that we may obtain that which thou dost promise, make us to love that which thou dost command; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Epistle. Gal. 5. 16.
I SAY then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
The Gospel. St. Luke 17. 11.
AND it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.
Note that on this particular day, Our Lod Jesus was in the area where Galilee is adjacent to Samaria. The lepers recognized Jesus from afar, and remained afar, as was the custom of lepers (because they were obviously unclean) (VERY UNCLEAN). So they hollered at Our Lord. They used the all powerful Name JESUS. "Have Mercy on us" Jesus uses no ceremony, no spitting on tongues no laying on of hands (though he did this at times with others. No, just very simply he says for them to head for theLevitical priests and present themselves. They turned about, still unclean, and as THEY OBEYED IN FAITH, they discovered they were being healed by the Power of God. We need to obey in faith today, more than ever in this land and in this ungodly day and age. (Leprosy you see, is a TYPE of sinfulness and sinful existence in Bible typology. This is definitely an age where bad is considered goog, and good is considered bad. An age where the Catholic newspaper has to DEFEND THE TEACHING OF THE CHURCH BECAUSE THE HOLY FATHER REFUSES TO, DURING AN ON FLIGHT INTERVIEW ON THE WAY BACK FROM WORLD YOUTH DAY 2013 IN BRASIL. (Where is Pope Benedict when we need him?...SERIOUSLY) Jesus save us from those who despitefully use the CHurch, both from without and from within. Not only is the Independent movement overrun with spiritual leprosy, but many in the Roman communion (who are really NOT TRUE CATHOLICS...just legal members) are spiritual lepers who fight against the Church, and moral teaching. The Lord knows who is really His own, and it will show in the day that He makes up His jewels says Malachai the Prophet. ONE LEPER CAME BACK. Only One. One said Thank you Jesus for healing me. This one was not only made CLEAN...He was made WHOLE. You see, it is one thing to be CLEANSED of leprosy, and still bear the scars of it (the scars of sin). It is another thing to be MADE WHOLE and lose the scars, lose the deformities, and the missing fingers etc. He was made completely WHOLE, by Faith combined with gratitude to Our Lord, and returnd to SUBMIT FULLY UNTO GOD. America must return fully to submit unto God, and not unto the NEW NORMAL of the CHURCH! We need a genuine repentance unto the LORD, and to be made WHOLE AGAIN!

About the Independent Sacramental Movement

The Independent Sacramental Movement
In recent years the term Independent Sacramental Movement has been being used,(although we prefer the old term " Orthodox,Catholic, and Anglican Independent movement"), and we also use the new term for our blog about the independent movement, that is called: " The Independent Sacramental Movement" with web address at http://independentsacramentalmovement.blogspot.com
The new term was popularized by Bishop Plummer in his recent book on the movement. The movement is really not new, but is a renaming, or some would even say, a new phase in the Independent movement which has been going at least since 1866, when Ferrette claimed to have received consecration by the Independent (Indian) Bishop acting for the Syrian patriarch of Antioch. After this, Vilate received true consecration at thesame location, and then brought the succession to both Europe and America during his prolific career. Then Arnold Harris Mathew, a former Catholicpriest, was raised to the episcopate in Holland by Old Catholic Bishop Gul. He is the source of many lines of succession in the movement. And then Aftimios Ofiesh and a Bishop Zuk are authors of other lines, in America stemming from the Russian Orthodox Church and going into independent Orthodox communions and Independent Catholic communions alike. In more recent years (since the end of World War Two) the Rebiba Line (which includes His Holiness Pope Leo XIII) came in through Dom Duarte Costa, Roman Catholic Bishop of Botu Catu, after he was excommunicated by His Holiness Pope Pius XII. These are the primary sources for the cris-crossing lines of succession throughout the movement as a whole.

File:Aftimios Ofiesh.gif Bishop Aftimios Ofiesh, Served as Bishop of American Orthodox Church, from 1917 to 1933, when he married and effectually "retired", though he still often visited Orthodox parishes wearing vestments. His marriage lasted 33 years, and produced one son, Paul. He died in 1966, and per his own reuqest; was buried with no service and no clergy, in cemetery across the street from an Orthodox cemetery. He consecrated Nichols, and from there his legacy has gone forward ever since, with many jurisdictions claiming apostolic succession from this source. His Church still survives today, and is headquatered in Texas.

Independent Sacramental Movement

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
The Independent Sacramental Movement (ISM) refers to the extremely loose collection of orders, churches, jurisdictions, and freelance clergy made up of sacramental Christians (and, depending on how one draws boundaries, some Christo-Pagans and Thelemites) who are not part of the historic sacramental denominations. Many in the ISM owe their origins to schisms from Roman Catholic, Old Catholic, Anglican, and Orthodox churches, and generally claim to preserve the historical episcopate or apostolic succession, though this claim would be seriously questioned, if not rejected, by the ecclesiastical authorities of Rome, Constantinople, Utrecht, and Canterbury. Utrecht and some jurisdictions within the Anglican Communion have engaged in ecumenical conversation with some groups which could be included in the ISM. Groups which are structurally similar but without claiming the apostolic succession may also be classed as part of the ISM.
Groups within the ISM (often known as Independent Catholic, Old Catholic, Liberal Catholic, Autocephalous Orthodox, Free Sacramental, etc.) tend to share a number of characteristics: small groups and/or solitary clergy, centrality of the sacramental life (especially the Eucharist), a mediatory priesthood mostly composed of volunteers, ordination potentially available to a significant percentage of the membership, and experimentation in theology, liturgy, and/or church structure.
The term was popularized by John Plummer in his book "The Many Paths of the Independent Sacramental Movement", although it was earlier used by Richard Smoley in "Inner Christianity," and perhaps first used in the mid-1970s by a short-lived cooperative organization called the Synod of Independent Sacramental Churches. ISM groups range from the broadly inclusive (including marriage of same-sex couples and the ordination of women) to the socially conservative; also from the traditionally orthodox to the esoteric, although the term is most commonly employed to refer to the liberal end of the spectrum. While the term "Independent Sacramental" originated as an etic description, it has been used increasingly as an emic self-description by members of some of these churches and groups.
The term is actually an expansion of an earlier term, The Independent Orthodox, Catholic ,and Anglican Movement. This term was used extensively for many years, primarily due to the spirit of cooperation, that for a long time, truly existed between many of these groups (even though most of them were not formally in communion with one another. Much of this "ad hoc" style of cooperation was due to the common origin of most of these groups' holy orders and lines of spostolic succession. Most of the groups contain a commonality of sources including: Archbishop Arnold Harris Mathew (Old Roman Catholic Church of Great Britain); Bishop Aftimios Ofiesh (Russian Orthodox Church); Bishop Dom Duarte Costa (Brazilian Catholic Apostolic Church); and Bishop Joseph Rene Villate (Syrian Orthodox Church). The majority of the independent Orthodox,Catholic, and Anglican Holy Orders descend from these primary sources.

Short History of my Ministry within the Independent Movement

We praise the Lord Jesus for you coming to this short page. This is the Reverend David Ellis. I have been in the so-called Independent Movement since early 1988. I was ordained to the diaconate in the fall of that year. I was ordained to the priesthood on ov. 12, 1989 at Kansas City Missouri by the Late Bishop Patrick M. Cronin, of Schnectady New York, at a mass in which Raymond Loosmore II was also ordained to the priesthood. In attendance, among others, was Bishop David L. Jones of the United American Orthodox Catholic Church. I founded the Holy Orthodox Church of the Theotokos in Branson Missouri in 1989. And then established mission works in and around Shelbyville Illinois. I began Prince of Peace Christ Catholic Mission in 1994, under the ecclesiastical approbation of (then) Archbishop Donald W. Mullan of Christ catholic Church International. At the time of the split between the Canadian Church and the Pruter American Church, I remained within the American Church under Bishop Karl Pruter. Bishop Karl passed away in 2007. Before his death, he granted consecration sub-conditione to Bishop O’Block of the Southern Episcopal Church, with right of succession to the See of the Presiding Bishop of Christ Catholic Church. The SECUSA merged that portion of Christ Catholic Church into a “Diocese” OF the SEC. I have not ever been connected with that group, or approached by them. I have continued with that group of priests and ministries which have remained within the original body of Christ Catholic Church. For mattters of clarification, we have begun using the style “The Holy Synod of Christ Catholic Church.” This group is truly miniscule, but is Blessed by Our Lord Jesus through the Unction of the Holy Spirit as we continue our ministry for and with the Lord.
